LUNCH/BREAKFAST PROGRAMS
Families who qualify for the federal free/reduced lunch program should complete an application and return it to the cafeteria manager.
Breakfast is served daily from 7:40-8:00 a.m. for preschool-12th grade at the cost of $2.50 for those who pay in full and 30 cents for reduced lunch. Lunch for those in preschool- 12th grade is $3.75, and the reduced rate is 40 cents.
Preschool students will pay for breakfast and lunch separately from tuition and can bring their lunch from home.
Policy #3231
All cafeteria bills must be paid in a timely manner. If bills are not paid on time, the cafeteria cannot provide nutritious and appropriately portioned meals for our students. No student may carry more than a $50 late lunch bill. When this limit is reached, follow-up actions will be initiated as described in the administrative rules and procedures until payment is received. Rules and Procedures for Policy #3231 are available to view in the Policy Manual in the school office.
Children who are allergic to milk or other food items and who provide the school with a written statement signed by a licensed physician will be served an alternative.
Children may bring a lunch from home; however, every effort should be made to send a lunch that does not have to be microwaved, as this takes the adult away from supervising the other students. All lunches coming from out of the building must be in a standard lunch box/bag or a non-descript, unlabeled bag. Milk may be purchased for $.50 a carton. CARBONATED DRINKS or glass containers may not be brought to school. This is a state regulation for state-supported schools with lunch programs, of which Pope John is included.
