Dual credit is the term given to courses in which high school students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. Dual credit courses are taught by high school faculty, adjunct college faculty or college faculty either at the high school, at the college or university, or sometimes through online courses or distance education. Dual credit is offered by both state and independent (private, regionally accredited) colleges and universities.

Shawe Memorial Jr/Sr High School has a dual credit partnership with Ivy Tech Community College. All dual credit courses are taught by Shawe faculty on our campus. Shawe faculty must meet Ivy Tech credentialing requirements and the course syllabus must be aligned with the corresponding course at Ivy Tech. Students who meet prerequisites (PSAT, SAT, ACT, or Knowledge Assessment scores) and who earn at least a C average in the course will earn Ivy Tech college credit in addition to Shawe high school credit.

Students have the opportunity to earn dual credit for the following courses. Refer to the Shawe Grading System for details about how dual credit courses are weighted in regards to GPA.
